I don't have it in me to write any good shit today, so you should go read some good shit on these three blogs, cause they all rock out with their coc...well, you get what I mean. I'm only including 3, cause I love a million billion other blogs, and a bitch just needs some structure.
Ok, so you know how "Bloggers are Here!?" Well, I don't wanna jump the gun or anything, but it *seems* like HGTV is kinda gettin that memo. Crazy, right??
I mean, first they choose Emily as the winner of Design Star and give her that kickass new show Secrets From A Stylist, and now they just announced that none other than DECOR DEMON will be blahgging blogging for them every week on their Design Happens blog. E-V-E-R-Y week, ppl. ZOMGZ!
And last week, while Nate Berkus was all busy ignoring bloggers, not asking bloggers for any of their feedback, not reading any design blogs and then pretending that he did, HGTV was busy planning a lunch JUST FOR DESIGN BLOGGERS. I wasn't there, but allegedly they asked people questions! And took note of opinions! And read our stuff all the time! I mean, who knows what any of it really means, but still: I'm givin credit where credit is due, and those HGTV btchz deserve some.
But here's the thing: since they're telling us that they give a shit what we think, and it *seems* like they're making efforts to produce content and shows that do a better job of speaking to us, its only fair that we speak our asses up and let em know if they're fucking shit up or doing a good job, right?
RIGHT.
If you like to jerk off to real estate listings and insider-y info like I do, then you've probably spent a good amount of time on Curbed.com. They cover all the real estate goings on in NYC, San Fran, LA and the Hamptons. But now they're bigger! AND better! Cause they just launched Curbed National! Holla!
[We'll] "focus [on] all-things design, decor, and shelter, from Malibu dream houses to Wyoming ranches to Maine cabins, and all residences in between. Expect a jaw-dropping daily featured project, wall-to-wall coverage of celebrity real estate, and a healthy dose of the ridiculous. And amidst the glories of the glorious and the hideous, we'll give you scoop on the ever-changing shelter-media universe and ponder decor in TV, movies, music and politics. We'll cover little-known and name-brand interior decorators alike, and tiny design blogs in far-flung corners of the web will be treated with the same dignity as Architectural Digest."
I already knew that Nate Berkus was gorgeous, and charming and incredibly talented, but based on what happened today for the design blogger show, I'm sad to have to add "totally friggin clueless" to the list. I mean, this shit was BAD, ppl. Like so bad, I didn't even think it was *possible* for someone to screw things up as badly as he and his staff did today.
To catch everyone's asses up: based on an impromptu Twitter campaign that ended up going quasi-viral (started by my 2 fave beyotches, The Moggit Girls), hundreds of design bloggers all blogged about Nate Berkus one day this summer in a collective, worldwide social media lovefest. They called it #nateday. And after such an amazing response, it was suggested that Nate should follow Martha Stewart's lead and do a "blogger show" one day where he filled up his entire audience with design bloggers. Brillz, right??
T-O-T-A-L-L-Y.
So we waited and waited and waited and waited, and finally, last week many of us got word that the day had finally come. The blogger show was scheduled for 9/21! We were only given one week's notice (which was kind of annoying), but many bloggers still managed to take time off, make travel arrangements and take time out of their very busy lives to be there.
