[WHERE I BLAHG] Amanda from Design Blahg
We'll pull back the curtain, and give you an insider's look into the lives of some of your favorite bloggers with 'Where I blahg.' This week: our very own Amanda Waas, the hilarious, way the hell less lazy than I am blogger who keeps it real here on Design Blahg.
Yep, Amanda is the brains behind the brilliant round-ups around here, such as "Fun office supplies so you won't commit suicide in your cubicle" and "Valentine's gifts for your stupid relationship." So if you're under the impression that I'm the only bitch around here who can bring the funny: THINK AGAIN! Amanda is way the hell funnier than I am. Against my better judgment, however, I'm letting her post this photo of her living room, cause as I explained to her via an email fight we had about it: it's killing me that there is nothing on her wall behind the couch. And I mean like dead on the floor. She had this to say in response: SHUT UP SHUT UP SHUT UP.
Name/Blog:
Amanda from Design Blahg.
What are we looking at here?
My living room. My shady landlord seems to be okay with the fact that our building's hallway looks like something out of a horror movie, but I put up with it exclusively for this exposed brick wall. I'm in love. I bought the couches and coffee table from West Elm and it remains the most expensive purchase of my life.
What is it about this spot that works for rocking out blog posts?:
I have a desk in my bedroom, but that serves more as a surface for piling up bills and copies of magazines I freelance for than an actual place for me to write my half-assed, self-righteous blog posts. If I'm writing or doing work, it's planted on the couch (can you see my ass groove?) with my laptop on my lap, my feet up on the coffee table, and HGTV on the TV.
Fave blog? (besides yours. Nice try):
There's Apartment Therapy, Design Sponge, ShelterPop and Catalog Living and then there's Hyperbole and a Half, which is probably the funniest site in the history of the entire internet.
Fave online resource?:
You may have gleaned from my posts that I'm obsessed with CB2, Spoon Sisters, and Uncommon Goods. I also like Crate & Barrel (CB2's older, snottier sister), West Elm, Restoration Hardware (even though I could only dream about buying shit from there). Etsy can be good, too, but you have to watch out for some of the crap that those hippies churn out.
Cupcakes or brownies?
I'm a savor-toothed tiger when it comes to food, so I'd much prefer chips and guacamole, ayayayayayyyy.
Last thing you bought for your home?
This shower curtain from CB2. It added a touch of class to my bathroom since the last one I had was so brightly-colored that it literally looked like a Cinco De Mayo celebration up in there. This is what happens when you buy the cheapest one on the shelf at Target, I guess. Lesson learned.
