[COOL OR NOT COOL] Design Bloggers-n-Ugly Houses?
So Girl World Decor is accepting suggestions for noms for her Girly Awards...and in the comments someone mentioned Design Bloggers who claim to be designers but actually live in ugly assed spaces.
At least, that was the implication. I'm not going to include the link to the "allegedly" ugly assed space, b/c this shit is way subjective. But its a very interesting point.
I mean, if I show up to my dentist's office and he's sitting there smoking a cigarette with a mouth full of crooked yellow teeth, I'm turning right the fuck around, ya know?
And the truth is, anyone can start a blog these days...which is great. And sometimes not so great in certain cases, but this is America, land of the free home of the brave, blah, blah, blah. Everyone should be able to do whatever the fuck they want, as long as they're not breaking the law, and so that's how smart asses like myself end up with our own piece of real estate on the dub dub dub. But also why the fuck should anyone be listening to my opinions on design? I have zero training, zero interior design expertise, and I've never taken a color theory class (and quite frankly, don't ever want to).
I *do* own ever issue of Domino mag ever published, but still: it's a legit question fer sure.
I almost feel like I want to launch a "I'll show you mine if you show me yours" campaign where we get all the design bloggers together to go commando, and show us all the spaces they live in. Just lay it all out on the line and see who's left standing.
Many bloggers do it already, and use their homes as centerpieces on their sites, so there might not be much to this whole thang. But I do think it would be pretty fucking inneresting...and may very well uncover some scary ass spaces that would blow all our minds if we found out who they belong to.
What do you think?
In the effort of full disclosure, here's a link to our AT Small/Cool entry this year. The pics are horrendous, but I'm too fucking lazy to clean up right now and take new ones so deal. Rip apart as appropriate....
