[INTERVIEW'D] George From 9 By Design, Part Dos

Bungalow Hotel, Long Branch, NJYo! Check it! Here is Part Two of our exclusive interview with George Hribar, from Bravo TV's new hit show 9 By Design. Part One is here.

As you may recall, we all love the shit outta 9 By Design around here...and George...and his eyebrows. Today we have some more scoop on upcoming projects from Sixx Design, hot new artists we should be keeping our eyes on and, of course, wtf is up for season two!?

You know you wanna...

What didn't we see on 9 by Design? A lot of reality TV stars blame the editing for the way they are portrayed--anything you want to tell us?

Honestly, I think Left/Right production and particularly the director Michael Selditch, did a great job portraying both the family and the business.  Michael was an architect himself, and a lot of his previous work (Queer Eye for the Straight Guy, Project Jay, Architecture School ) was about uncovering/demystifying the design process. It was also cool to see the behind-the-scenes of how something like a reality show is shot and edited.

Can you spill the beans on 3 to 5 of your fave NYC (or online!) resources for furniture/decor?

Soho Treasures has some great, poppy stuff; Adelaide is this ittle West Village shop that has great prices, and moves a ton of product; Ebay and Ikea!

The Novogratzes clearly have a love of art and supporting artists (I personally loved the Ann Carrington intro); any up-and-coming artists we should keep our eyes on?

I'm a big believer in the notion that if you like the way it looks and think it will look good on your wall, then it's a worhwhile investment.  Sometimes people freeze up when it comes to art. Here are a few sources for artists that are not necessarily up-and-coming, but are super affordable and are all people we are really feeling lately.

Clic Gallery in Soho is also a great source for relatively affordable photography in NYC.

Do you read any design blogs? If so, which ones?

Nothing regularly.  I have some plugged into my google reader and flip through from time to time.

Be honest - how hard was it to remember those kids names at first?

Haha.  It's been a while now, but there were a lot of "Hey what's up?"s in the beginning.

What's your fave Sixx Design project so far (and why?)

Probably the one we just finished.  It was a ground up 10k sq-ft townhome that I project managed from underpinning the foundation through the finish work.  That or the Bungalow Hotel in Long Branch, NJ.  It's cool to go down there and see our design living and breathing.

Can you tell us anything about the Punta Mita Hotel?

Not too much to say yet.  it's located on a beautiful piece of beachfront property with an amazing surf-break outfront.  You'll have to wait!

Any news on Season 2? We're all chomping at the bit for more 9 By Design!

No word yet.  We are chompning at the bit as well!

Ok folks, there you have it. If you want more 9 Design like my ass does, you best want to tweet @BravoAndy and let him know.

In the meantime, you can stay in touch with George & Sixx Design all over the interwebz:

Thanks to George for all the scoop! Sidenote: If we *don't* get a season two of 9 By Design, I'm gonna cut a bitch...we cannot stand by and let another Top Design tragedy go down. So tweet your Bravo TV executives, ppl! Love you, George!
