COOL OR NOT COOL: Painting Parties?

image via Casa SugarSo I read about this in Casa Sugar yesterday and I gotta say: I think this is LAME with a capital EL.

The idea is that you're supposed to rope your "friends" into coming over and painting your whole damn place by sending out cute invites and having snacks and drinks for everyone on hand. Oh also you need to make sure that you have enough supplies and can't forget to take pics of all the painting fun!?

Hmmm...

I have an idear! Maybe instead of spending money on "cute invites" and a cheese platter from Costco and a bajillion rollers and paintbrushes, and a tripod, maybe you could hire your own motherfucking painter!?

I'm just putting it out there: I'm way too friggin old for that sort of shit. And while we're at it, you should also know that I'm not helping you move.

What do you think: cool or not cool?

I wouldn't trust my friends to paint my apartment when they're sober, so there's little way in hell I'd hand them a paint roller if they're drinking too. I think painting parties are cool/money saving/social in theory, but dumb in practice!

So are you saying that if I invite you over to help me paint but promise booze and weed you're NOT going to come?

@Rob: Look: I'll take the fucking photos and turn em into a Flickr set, but that's all I can commit to...
