[GEEK OUT] Meninos: Home furnishings for dorks
Let's take an inventory of everything I own that could be considered expensive:
An Apple iPhone, a sectional sofa from West Elm, a SONY Digital camera, an Apple iPod, an Apple MacBook (Also, don't break into my fucking apartment because I can't afford to replace this shit).
Pretty much everything else I own is from Target. So, we can conclude that the only things I spend my money on are Apple products, but as a reluctant Apple devotee, I don't really get the hype and rabid loyalty that some dorks feel toward Apple.
I love my Macbook, but AT&T's terrible service has kind of ruined the initial shiny, beautiful brilliance of the iPhone. But since there are legions of seemingly straight guys who would be all too enthusiastic about giving Steve Jobs a blowjob (a SteveJob?), the folks over at Meninos have hopped on the iPhone train and have created a bunch of home furnishings that cater these iPhone obsessives. Personally, none of these things would ever find their way into my house as anything other than a gag gift, but they're funny and clever enough to take a glance at.
iPhone Coaster Set ($59.99): Okay, so it's a tad pricey for some coasters, but it's a set of 16! And where you gonna put your drink? On top of the Stocks icon, of course. Who the hell uses that app anyway? And you can't even delete it!
If the geek in your life is also a designer, there's also a set of these coasters that reflect the Adobe family's icons for a more reasonable $24.99.
Unlock Doormat ($49.99): Imagine all of the fun you'll have watching your drunk friends try to open your door by dragging their feet over this doormat at the end of the party. After about 2 minutes, it will get annoying, and you'll have to open the door and shove them out, but for that 2 minutes? PURE GEEK BLISS.
8-Bit Hanger ($19.99): Remember this old school, pixelated mouse pointer? Good times, back in 1992. Sure, you can use this wall-mountable hanger to hang up pretty much anything, but you're obviously not an Apple fiend unless you use it to hang up your ear buds.

While I just couldn't bring myself to bring the geek into my place in anything larger than coaster-sized, these are all hilarious and great finds. A SteveJob. Hah!
I can't wait to start using my 2G iPhone as a coaster...
