Mad For Plaid?
Chic plaid, does it exist? After seeing this post on the Inside Source about plaid-y trends for fall, I decided to investigate.
I personally have a bit of a love/hate relationship with plaid. I feel like I mostly hate it, but also I think that's because it's often used in boring and expected ways (I'm talkin to you plaid shower curtain in a boy's bathroom with matching plaid hand towels and a bag of potpourri with a plaid ribbon). Oh and because people are using the cheap plaid shit instead of the chic plaid shit.
HOWEVER.
When someone does plaid right, I actually think it CANNN be super chic.
Here's what I'm talkin bout, Willis:
Now, I'm not gonna lie: I may not necessarily be running out to do this shit in my own apt, but STILL...I do think both these pics show off some hawt plaid-ness. I mean, a PLAID FLOOR!? Come on...that rocks (though those light fixtures confuse me a bit). And the pic on the left is a perfecto example of how going over the top, balls to the wall, is just how we should all be doin it.
If these blankets don't make you want to curl up in front of a fire, you must be a fireman (sidenote: do fireman actually have fireplaces in their homes, or does it freak them out too much??? DEEP THOUGHTS). Anyway, these all make me think of that Hunting Lodge in Aspen, Vintage Chic, hang a spraypainted gold deer over my head for funzies type of vibe, and I dig it.
Plaid is pretty dead on perfect for dude design. Like for a dude who *kinda* wants to design shit up but is scared of really diving in, plaid could be his gateway drug. I actually have a very similar blanket to the one above. Mine is gray/navy and it use it with these purple-y/pink-y pillowcases in the winter.
I mean, look at these people: they all look pretty fucking happy. My hypothesis is: the more plaid you have in your life, the less zoloft you need to take.
p.s. All of these images are from Pinterest. Click on em and they'll take you back to the "pinner's" page. Also, if you're not using this shit yet, you so should be! It rocks!
