[WHERE I BLAHG]: Design Milk

Each week we'll pull back the curtain, and give you an insider's look into the lives of some of your favorite bloggers with 'Here's where I blahg.' This week: Jaime from Design Milk.

I'm guessing everyone is verrrry familiar with Design Milk already, because HELLOOOOO?? If you care at ALL about modern design, like me, you're already reading that shit e-ve-r-y d-a-y and twice on Sunday (and by "shit," of course we mean GOOD SHIT). Design Milk is one of the OG design blogs, and they cover it all: fashion, architecture, technology, interiors. Also sometimes Jaime hosts HGTV Design Star Twitter parties and those are hella FUN!

Name/Blog:

Jaime from Design Milk.

What are we looking at here?

This is my temporary office. I call it temporary because we’re hoping to buy a house this year. We’re currently living in an apartment that makes me want to claw my eyeballs out. As you can see, it’s full of builder’s beige.

Finding just the right house for a picky person like me has been quite challenging so in the meantime, we’re roughing it. My office is the other bedroom in our 2-bedroom apartment. It’s really big, and was actually the master bathroom, so I have an attached “executive bathroom,” which is kinda cool. No, you can’t use it.

What is it about this spot that works for rocking out blog posts?:

I don’t blog too often from anywhere else because I don’t enjoy blogging on a laptop. The screen is too small, I’m spoiled because I like using a mouse and I have trouble concentrating when I’m not in my office. So, this is where all of the magic happens. I feel like if I don’t sit at a desk and then get up and leave, I will spend my entire life attached to my computer. It’s hard to work at home especially when your job is on the Internet, so you need boundaries. It’s bad enough I spend the most of my nights gazing at my iPhone.

Fave blog? (besides ours...OR yours. Nice try):

I don’t have a favorite. I can’t answer this question! Here are a few that I like:

NOTCOT: http://notcot.org (but this isn’t really a blog…)

DesignWatcher: http://designwatcher.blogspot.com/

The Brick House: http://www.the-brick-house.com/

Plastolux: http://plastolux.com/

Healthy Tipping Point: http://www.healthytippingpoint.com/

Desire to Inspire: http://www.desiretoinspire.net/

 Fave online resource?:

Here are some shops and places I like to browse:

cb2 (I know they have stores but not near me): http://www.cb2.com/

Chiasso: http://www.chiasso.com/

Unica Home: http://www.unicahome.com/

Fitzsu: http://www.fitzsu.com/

eBay and Craigslist, duh.

My current problem with shopping is that I am on a "can’t-buy-anything-new-until-I-have-a-damn-house" freeze.

Cupcakes or brownies?

Depends. Brownies must be ooey, gooey and moist. I like carrot cake cupcakes.

Last thing you bought for your home?

A Bodom French press. I had a Keurig that was my BFF, but in our last apartment roaches decided to make the Keurig their brand new roach hotel. So, I had to throw it out when we moved out of the roach apartment. That was hard. I cried when I put it in the trash bag.

There is way more Jaime over on Design Milk and their adorbs spin off site Dog Milk. Also, HELLO: She's all over Twitter (and Dog Milk too!). Get on that shit pronto.

I had two computers both connected to a wireless router. Yesterday I connected a third computer to the network and, although the connection goes through for this new computer, one of the original computers now says "Limited or no connectivity" and cannot connect to the Internet. Is it possible that the ...
