[WHERE I BLAHG]: Meri Cherry

Each week we'll pull back the curtain, and give you an insider's look into the lives of some of your favorite bloggers with 'Here's where I blahg.' This week: Meri from Meri Cherry.

Yes, Meri Cherry's name is *actually* Meri Cherry (amazing, right?), and rather than run from it, she's decided to go ahead and totally friggin embrace it. She recently launched her blog to document her life as a newly married kindergarten art teacher in Los Angeles, devotee of The Artist's way, and felt ball obsessive (and true confessions: I want some goddamned felt balls now too). There are loads of great art project ideas for your kiddos (if you've got some) and if not, you can keep busy with adorable tidbits about Meri's life (like her recent trip to Europe).

Name/Blog:

Meri from Meri Cherry.

What are we looking at here?

My precious macbook pro, and remnants of art projects coming and going.

What is it about this spot that works for rocking out blog posts?:

It's all mine.  My husband, Evan, let me transform our guest room into an art studio about six months ago and it's pure heaven.  I keep all my art supplies, projects, photos, etc. hanging around and invite friends over for "artist dates."  We love it.  I usually can bang out a few posts either early morning or before bed.  If  I haven't seen Ev all day and I'm missing him, I'll sit at the dining table and post while he watches TV (we just got married last month so I'm allowed to say gooshy stuff like that).

Fave blog? (besides ours...OR yours. Nice try):

I'll do top 5 because 1 is just way to hard:

  • Childhood Magic is amazing.   This family is the tropical version of the Novogratzes' from 9 By Design.  I wish I was as easy breezy super cool as this mom and family.  Plus the kids are insanely gorgeous and her art ideas are out of this world.
  • Deep Space Sparkle is totally inspiring to me.  I use Patty's ideas all the time.  She's an art teacher near Santa Barbara. I totally admire her skills in the classroom.
  • The Crafty Crow is a great resource for amazing art projects found all over the internet.  Cassi, the blogger, is a homeschooling mom, which always wows me.  She finds the best of the best and adds her own tips and ideas.  Really great projects.
  • I recently discovered Mary Making and her ideas are fantastic.  I've already used two just this week in an art camp I'm hosting.

 Fave online resource?:

I love FamilleSummerbelle.  I don't have kids yet, but when we do...

Cupcakes or brownies?

Cupcakes, especially from Sisters in Palm Desert, CA.  The peanut butter and jelly ones are heaven on earth.

Last thing you bought for your home?

We just reupholstered our couch!!! And it's amazing.  It's a gigantic vintage traditional number that we redid it in a gorge lavender silvery metallic.  It's the best thing in our house by far.  I might have finally earned my husband's decor trust with this one.

There's way more Meri over on Meri Cherry. Get on that shit pronto (and leave some comments! Remember what it was like to be a new blogger? No? How old are you???).
