[WHO GIVES A SHIT] Everyone Hates Everything?

Buh-leeve me: I know a thing or two about hating shit...I'm actually pretty darn good at it maself. But even I've been blown away by all the haterade flowin on MFAMB right now over everyone's most hated design trends. Here's what's gone down. A few days ago, Jenny dared to go here: "I thought today would be a great day to post some of the shit I hate or that is starting to give me chronic vaginal dryness...and after i want you to do the same.

In the comments section i want you to tell me the shit that makes your eyes bleed."

And tell everybody did. As of this writing there are over 193 comments, and to sum up: EVERYONE HATES EVERYTHING. Like every fucking thing you could possibly imagine. All of the usual suspects are there of course: the Keep Calm and Carry On poster, arranging books by color, poufs, foo dogs and sunburst mirrors, but then the comments just keep going and going and going and going. And if you manage to get all the way to the end (like my ass did) you can be assured of this: whatever the fuck your home looks like, and whatever design trends you have or haven't embraced, rest assured that everyone hates everything in it anyway.

So like you hate all my shit and I hate all your shit. And also you hate everything I have on my blog and I hate everything you have on yours. And all magazines suck, and all interior designers suck, and all bloggers are stupid, and all TV shows are crap, and all online mags are retarded. E-V-E-R-Y-T-H-I-N-G IS SOOOOO DUMB.

Wow.

Ok, so I have a few thoughts about all this:

1. I find this whole convo very entertaining AND totally bullshit-laced. Cause everywhere I look, on every blog, on Facebook and on the Twitters, alllllll I see are comments like this: "HOW BEEEYOTIFUL! Thanks so much for sharing this little gem!;" or this: "You truly are a star! Thanks for sharing such gorgeous photos." I mean, its often gag inducing...espesh with all the "hello lovelies!" "hi there my little doves" talk. And yet, according to everyone's comments on MFAMB, everyone hates the shit out of everything!? I just don't get it? Unless everyone is full of shit and just being fake everywhere?
2. Why is it ok in virtually every other category online and off (pop culture, books, films, TV shows, movies, restaurants, software, retail, etc) to share honest, critical feedback, but in the world of design, it's not? I mean, nobody says that its not, but it just sort of feels like its not. And I really just don't get it. Is it because we're mostly all girls and just trying to be nice to everyone?

Needless to say we like to drop some truth bombs around here every once in awhile, so I have no problemo whatsoever when others do too. In fact, I wish all y'all would drop em way more.

Also, apparently I'm dead to MFAMB until I stop using the word "rad"...and that ain't gonna happen anytime soon. But even though we're in pretend fight, I would still urge you to read her two follow up posts: You Hate in a Nutshell, Part 1 and Trendz You Hate, Part Two, cause they're both hilarious AND rad.

Anyway, what do you ppl think about all this nonsense?
