[UPGRADE] Ebay Saved Searches

If you spend as much time and money on ebay as my ass does, you likely have a system. And yes: you TOTALLY FRIGGIN NEED one. While ebay is one of my true loves online, its also a bit of a beast. There are sooooo many items and sooooo many categories, and a lot of inexperienced rookies just get scared and give up before uncovering any of the jewels.

But don't give up btchz...it's t-o-t-a-l-l-y worth sticking it out.

I track all of my fave searches via RSS, but if that shit is too fancy for you, you can AT LEAST save your own fave searches either within "my ebay" on the site or via another method. However you do it, you need to keep a record of your fave searches. Like NEED. You will find yourself entering these same terms over and over and over again and you may as well make it easy for your damn self.

Here's a screenshot of my search for "vintage lucite:"

You can start your search in that search box in the upper right hand corner. You need to strike a balance with being too broad and not broad enough and the only way to do that is to practice. I really love the shit out of vintage items, so I typically add "vintage" to most things I'm looking for. And duh, I'm obsessed with lucite so that "vintage lucite" term is one of my faves. BUT as you can see, it turned up 8,897 results. And that shit would take me like a month to sort through, so I need to fine tune. IF you were happy with your search as is and you wanted to save right then and there, you would just click on that that little button that says "save this search and alert me later." You can then choose if you want to be alerted EVERY FUCKING TIME something is listed with the words vintage lucite (so not recommended) or once a day or not at all. It's all up to you. If your ass is dying to immeds purchase a gold leather Moroccan Pouf, you might opt for the email alerts as listed.

After pulling up a ton of broad results like this, I'll always go over to the left hand side of the page and reduce shit. Am I looking for vintage lucite watches? (uh, no). But if I was, I would click on that first category and that would fine-tune my results even more. I could then save THAT search in the same way I mention above (so it would be vintage lucite >> jewelry and watches). GET IT?

GOOD.

Anyway, here are some of my fave used search terms that I go to again and again:

  • bargello pillows
  • fur pillows
  • vintage lucite (then choose "decorative collectibles cat)
  • vintage lucite (then choose "kitchen and home)
  • vintage tortoise
  • vintage sheepskin
  • vintage Italian (sometimes I just leave it at that and see what I get)
  • vintage French (ditto)
  • vintage tins
  • vintage camp blanket
  • vintage crystal ashtray
  • vintage paper weight
  • vintage needlepoint (I'M OBSESSED). I have a rad framed collection of vintage needlepoints of all diff animals in our front entrance. It's like my own lil zoo.
  • vintage Christian Dior
  • Jonathan Adler
  • vintage wicker
  • vintage bench

Ok, I showed you mine, now you show me yours: what are some of your fave search terms??
