[ROUND-UP] Map Quest

Oh, what's up, Vasco Da Gama?

After browsing around on Urban Outfitters, I realized that the cool thing to do now is to decorate like you're GD Amerigo Vespucci.

I don't hate the look of decorating with maps (and map-related acoutrements), but if you overdo it, you're bound to look like a pretentious douchebag.  One day, you'll find yourself saying things like: Oh, this old thing?  It's just representative of my adventurous nature! I love to travel!, completely ignoring the fact that the most exotic place you've travelled to in the last 6 months is Long Island.

People might also question whether you're embroiled in a large-scale game of Where in the World is Carmen San Diego?

Whatever.  Land ho, Magellan!

Lets check this shit out.

[WHERE I BLAHG]: Belly's Button

Each week (ish) we'll pull back the curtain, and give you an insider's look into the lives of some of your favorite bloggers with 'Where I blahg.' This week: Chedva (@ChedvaK) from Belly's Button!

One of my most favorite-ist things about having a blog is all the fly ass ppl I get to "meet" in far-flung places across the world. Case in point: Chedva! Who lives in Israel! I first took notice of her site when she did this killer post on all the diff moodboard posts/apps out there at the EXACT moment I was trying to figure that shit out. As it turns out, she's got loads more fab stuff on her blog where that came from. She even did an old Domino mag giveaway! Oh, and we're also TV soul mates...and despite the fact she lives in Israel she still manages to keep up with all the shows here. That's some serious dedication, ppl. So yeah, she rules.

Decor Demon, HGTV & Why We Should All Give A Shit

photo: Sarah Dorio (minus my stupid writing)Ok, so you know how "Bloggers are Here!?" Well, I don't wanna jump the gun or anything, but it *seems* like HGTV is kinda gettin that memo. Crazy, right??

I mean, first they choose Emily as the winner of Design Star and give her that kickass new show Secrets From A Stylist, and now they just announced that none other than DECOR DEMON will be blahgging blogging for them every week on their Design Happens blog. E-V-E-R-Y week, ppl. ZOMGZ!

And last week, while Nate Berkus was all busy ignoring bloggers, not asking bloggers for any of their feedback, not reading any design blogs and then pretending that he did, HGTV was busy planning a lunch JUST FOR DESIGN BLOGGERS. I wasn't there, but allegedly they asked people questions! And took note of opinions! And read our stuff all the time! I mean, who knows what any of it really means, but still: I'm givin credit where credit is due, and those HGTV btchz deserve some.

But here's the thing: since they're telling us that they give a shit what we think, and it *seems* like they're making efforts to produce content and shows that do a better job of speaking to us, its only fair that we speak our asses up and let em know if they're fucking shit up or doing a good job, right?

RIGHT.

BLOGGERS ARE HERE: A Song For Nate Berkus

Dudez.

Jenny from My Favorite and My Best (i.e. that blog that's WAY the fuck better than either mine or yours) wrote and performed a song inspired by the events of #nateday or #nateday921 or #nategate.

And it's, perhaps, the best thing I've ever seen in my entire fucking life. There is singing, and dancing, and writhing seductively on beds.

Yo, Curbed National Is Here!

If you like to jerk off to real estate listings and insider-y info like I do, then you've probably spent a good amount of time on Curbed.com. They cover all the real estate goings on in NYC, San Fran, LA and the Hamptons. But now they're bigger! AND better! Cause they just launched Curbed National! Holla!

[We'll] "focus [on] all-things design, decor, and shelter, from Malibu dream houses to Wyoming ranches to Maine cabins, and all residences in between. Expect a jaw-dropping daily featured project, wall-to-wall coverage of celebrity real estate, and a healthy dose of the ridiculous. And amidst the glories of the glorious and the hideous, we'll give you scoop on the ever-changing shelter-media universe and ponder decor in TV, movies, music and politics. We'll cover little-known and name-brand interior decorators alike, and tiny design blogs in far-flung corners of the web will be treated with the same dignity as Architectural Digest."
