[COOL OR NOT COOL] Turning your house into a Winter Wonderland

My mother was not a Kool-Aid mom, greeting me at the door after school with a tray of wholesome snacks, or welcoming the neighborhood kids over for slumber parties and rice krispie squares.

She's not overly sentimental, and her attitude when I was growing up was, decidedly, "do it yourself."

All of this is fine—it made me independent and self-sufficient and blahblahblah rationalization—BUT, it makes it very confusing when Christmas time rolls around and she suddenly transforms into Mrs. Claus.

Our kitchen—the one that she barely uses the other 11 months of the year—is turned into a 24-hour cookie-baking factory.  All of the door knobs in the house are adorned with plush Rudolph faces which makes it fucking IMPOSSIBLE to enter or exit a room.  Every flat surface is covered with cotton and other forms of fake snow.  It is a straight-up, motherfucking winter wonderland in there, and it's CRAZY.

Saugerties...My New Fave Little Town in the Catskills

Ok, I'm sharing this info with all y'all cause I love you. But if all you btchz go up to Saugerties next weekend and buy houses and jack up the price of real estate I'm gonna be PISSED. Except that then we'd all live close to each other and that would be so much fun, and we could go antiqu-ing-n-shit, cause I SOOOOO WANNA BUY A HOUSE UP THERE TOO!

This weekend, Greg and I rented a kickass house right outside of Woodstock with our friends Kevin-n-Carmen.

We drove up on Friday night, hung out and played board games, built fires, got drunk, went out for delicious food, and basically just had fun and relaxed all weekend long.

Only, I kinda didn't want to come back home.

All Hail Honeysuckle, the 2011 Color Of the Year!

As the reign of 2010 Color of the Year Turquoise comes to an end, the design world is in hysterics (probably) over the official 2011 Pantone Color of the Year announcement: HONEYSUCKLE!

Honeysuckle is a reddish-pink that according to editoratlarge.com basically possesses magical powers and "elevates our psyche beyond escape, instilling the confidence, courage and spirit to meet the exhaustive challenges that have become part of everyday life."
